I have started a new internet station if any one wants to no about please P M me thanks.

Post 2 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 21:37:49

Oh great. here we go. Why do people insist on mentioning internet stations and not even giving the address to listen? This one is doomed to fail, just like all the other ones people have started here. Well, all accept the Blade, which doesn't get a whole lot of listeners, but it still sounds very good and is well thought out. and the other one worth mentioning is HKC Radio. While Nick and I have disagreed on many fronts, I gotta give him props for at least understanding the mechanics and proper promotion of an internet station. I give this one a week or so before it shuts down. Show me you're serious and give the station some proper promotion. This board is to promote, so goddamn it, promote!!!!

Post 3 by forereel (Just posting.) on Friday, 30-Mar-2007 12:40:11

Yeah!
Calling all DJ's!

Post 4 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Friday, 30-Mar-2007 22:47:08

the only reason I won't promote it is because every time I do some jerk comes along and disses me or screws it up and trys to report it. If you really want to no about it P M me but do not promote it thank you.

Post 5 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Saturday, 31-Mar-2007 17:15:31

oh sure. don't promote your station and guess what'll happen? the only person listening will be you. Thanks for playing. You lose!

Post 6 by Austin (the magic fan!) on Saturday, 31-Mar-2007 17:59:14

Ok kerry.
This is as a friend.
by you not putting the address it shows that you are afraid of being dissed. witch you did say, but you know what's best to do?
put the address so people can listen. and if disses come in? ignore them. .that's what i did and i promote the blade and i get dissed but i only laugh at it.
and to toonhead, yeah i do agree with you about the blade.
We don't have many listeners but i do my best.
so kerry, be a man and post the address and you get listeners and disses but ignore the disses. it's all part of radio. I know, i've been there.
so, i hope you don't take this the wrong way.

I have started a new internet station if any one wants to no about please P M me thanks. um, ever thaught of putting that in your profile, and not here?

Post 11 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Monday, 02-Apr-2007 23:11:12

well if this ends up like Jammin Hits Radio did this is the last station I will ever do and I mean it!
My station is called M V R N radio Music Varritie radio network bad spelling well it plays music from the 50's to today! Does that sound nice?
It has 4 shows first of all the verry well nown Dan show is on Fridays from 8 to 10 also Chris Harrington is on it as well doing a christian rock show. Jasson from the south does hip hop mixing and there is going to be another hip hop starting in a couple of weeks. But in the audomation is loads and loads of music! Also on Saturdays you can catch D J mat from Canada with Mats Madniss from 2 to 5 and also Wirb radio from 12 to 2 on Sundays playing all your rock! Also Brandon Hennis Live from 12 to 2 Munday through Friday and the Hennis Morning show as well also live sports fan racing coverage understand why I don't this station gone? I have to menny plans for it! well here is the address
mvrn.kicks-ass.net:8000
also the ventrilo server is as follows
mvrn.kicks-ass.net
port: 3784
and the password is mvrnradio123
so I am asking that people listen and not screw me over thank you! I do have other people behind this station as well but I won't tell you who just some people I keep in tuch with so if you do mess this station up you will be confrunting them as well.

Post 12 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Monday, 02-Apr-2007 23:12:39

I need people to make me I D's so that would be nice if some one can take that up for me. I do have a G M just need production people.

Post 13 by Austin (the magic fan!) on Monday, 02-Apr-2007 23:21:49

ok kerry. there we go man. that's what i like to hear!

Post 14 by Nick6489 (11 years a Zoner) on Tuesday, 03-Apr-2007 15:08:10

Hmm. Plans? You? Let's see how long it is before they all go up in smoke. If your plans involve a domain name, website, shoutcast server on datacenter type bandwidth, maybe we'll believe you...Otherwise, What's the over under on how long this thing lasts...

Post 15 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Tuesday, 03-Apr-2007 18:28:46

I give it 2 weeks, if that. mvrn? see, this is another thing you guys starting radio stations need to figure out. all these letters mvrn, tbrn, all these...give the station a nice, easy to remember name. Austin's got it right. the blade, nice and easy to remember and the station name fits. He's headed in the right direction. If you get other djs who are serious about this and can get some help from major people and not just guys fucking around you could really go somewhere. but this other thing...mvrn sounds like it'll go ffor a couple weeks and go away when you get bored.

Post 16 by Nick6489 (11 years a Zoner) on Tuesday, 03-Apr-2007 18:32:35

Actually, that's one of the problems. All of these stations want to be like my good friends over at TBRN, The Beyond Radio Network, but they don't really know where to start, so I guess the name is as good a place as any...

Post 17 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Wednesday, 04-Apr-2007 1:49:09

Interesting. I'm not sure if being like TBRN is the goal, but I can sure understand why. I don't listen to all of the shows on there, but it is certainly original programming and you truely can't hear anything else like it on the net, that is for damn sure.

Post 18 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Wednesday, 04-Apr-2007 2:34:01

I am not trying to be like t b r n but I am trying to be a station that plays all types of music from all around. Why when I start something you audmaticly thing of the negatives? Second of all its a hobby for me I am not trying to have it this like big thing with loads of listeners and loads of things going on sure I want listeners but I am not trying to make it this huge station like T B R N excetra its not something I want to spend loads of money on. First of all domains cost money also sites take time and effert also getting a server on stream madniss cost money as well so basicly the only way if thisi is going to happen is people donating if people don't donate then it shows me that they don't care about the station. Basicly its listener supported.
If I get plunty of donations then and only then wil big things like that will happen. Half to have the bread befor something can be done about it. First of all I half to get another soundcard then also I want to get more mikes and a board also get another F M transmitter and have the station on F M and then a site and dedacated server and loads more wil accer it is not something I will put off how ever if people want it will I most sutterenly not do it. Because it sounds like the people that have spoken don't want the station or don't want to listen to it. I am fine with that but just no its a hobby not going to be a real giant station. Insted of all the negatives about it why not give it a listen! Create some I D's! Donate to the station! There are tuns of ways you can make this station grow! So why not make it happen!

Post 19 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 04-Apr-2007 5:09:04

karie, what is the website where you can listen? i am just interested to see where it takes me

Post 20 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 04-Apr-2007 5:12:59

look at jamin hits, it never had a website, you just called people up on skype, so that they could hear it. and, get another soundcard. i don't know any radio stations that you can hear jaws on.

and, how's about getting a music collection? using yahoo does not do you justice, say if someone requests a song. yeah, your new station sounds good, but if it's anything like jamin hits, i'm just not interested

Post 21 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Wednesday, 04-Apr-2007 12:12:55

Oh I have a music colection and I do have 2 soundcards one for jaws and the other for streams all set on that just need another soundcard because this one is crashing. I have tons of music oh yes I do believe me this is not going to be like Jammin Hits and if I only had one sound card I do have a hard ware sinth.

Post 22 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 04-Apr-2007 14:38:23

what is the website address?

Post 23 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Wednesday, 04-Apr-2007 18:34:00

the site address is mvrn.kicks-ass.net:8000 don't have a site up yet how ever if some one would take the time and teach me how to do it I would be willing to put a basic site up on that mvrn.kicks-ass.net domaine but like I sed no one does any thing about what they want they just complain. Complaining will not get you any where and so won't negativity if you are so negative Nick I don't no how you followed through your network. Also you must of put money behind it as well. You the listener of M V R N half to take part and make things happen I aint going to do it all. Listeners give me like at least 1000 then theze things will be done. I don't care how much one person donates but at least something. I want to get a shoutcast server and to be licanced but do I have the bucks for it? No! Think of my station as like a P B S or N P R station they count on donations and most internet stations do I am sorry for saying this but just making a point. I am one person.
iternity
do you want to make a basic site? Or at least help me in making it? Whould some one like to purchice a shout cast server for the station? This is how its going to work. Don't like my rules then well don't complain when theze things don't happen.

Post 24 by Austin (the magic fan!) on Wednesday, 04-Apr-2007 22:31:42

yeah kerry. i feel you man.
like the blade for instance. Yeah i advertise on the zone and i may not have original shows but i play what people want and plus it's a hobby. it's not some big network. that's all.

Post 25 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Wednesday, 04-Apr-2007 23:57:43

well people seem to like you better than me for some reason don't no why honestly don't no why I am disliked in the first place yes I make my mistakes but get over it. Keep listening and if you want to do a show let me no. The only time thsi station will be down for a while is when I move and thta will probablly be a couple of days to a week not sure yet.

Post 26 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Thursday, 05-Apr-2007 3:18:42

Post 31 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Saturday, 07-Apr-2007 13:57:58

Don't forget to check out D J Mat from 2 to 4 on Saturdays! Mats Madness on at 2 eastern only on M V R N and wirb radio! You no how we do!

Post 32 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Saturday, 07-Apr-2007 18:01:02

Well, I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but let me make another suggestion if I may. Website domains are very cheep nowadays. go to one of the domain registration sites, and see if you can get a domain like www.mvrn.com, or.net or some such thing. mvrn.com, or mvrn.net is a whole lot easier to remember than mvrn.kicks-ass.net If you want donations, set up a paypal account and put a button on your website, once you get it going. You can't just say, give me money and if you don't like it tough shit. See, that is the reason why people like Austin, it's because he is honest about his station. As for licensing, I really don't think that's something you have to worry very much about. If you only have a small number of listeners, that isn't much of an issue. As for shoutcast servers, you can run one on your own machine and have all your broadcasters connect to it, or you could simply have all the broadcasters connect to one main server which you could get from http://www.streammadness.com, for example. If you're really serious about this and want to get your name out there a bit, you gotta spend some bucks.

Post 33 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Sunday, 08-Apr-2007 8:20:35

Tell me where to get some bucks and I will spend it. Do you think Austin has a site for his station? No! and what is the difference between mvrn.net or mvrn.kicks-ass.net? I kind of like that kicks-ass.net thing fits right in. All I need is for some one to help me create a site. Money does not half to play a role at this time. Like I sed and I will say it again in case you missed it Toon Head. Donations give money for sites and phone numbers and things like that with out donations then well it will be just this. I don't have a job and I don't have S S I I am 17 and the money I do get well I live on it. Money does not grow on trees. But I am thinking now a days it does because so menny people have it. So Nick and Toon Head who seem to think that this station won't get any where donate then. If you keep complaining I won't read them listen and interact thanks.

Post 34 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Sunday, 08-Apr-2007 15:18:31

Don't forget to check out movie Sunday! Grab a bowl of pop corn and enjoy some described movies from 8 to 10 P M tonights movie is the Pashion of kriste and I no I can't spell it. Any way don't miss it from 8 to 10 P M only on MVRN Radio!
mvrn.kicks-ass.net:8000

Post 35 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Sunday, 08-Apr-2007 16:05:22

i've just tried going to your site, and it says the page is not avalible. it's a real address, rite?

Post 36 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Sunday, 08-Apr-2007 17:29:54

Actually, the address he's giving is one of those that you have to paste into Winamp or another media player directly to listen. But see, this is *exactly* what I mean, the average person out there *doesn't* know this. People are used to going to a website, clicking a link and having their media player come up and then they can kick back and listen. So, what needs to happen is to get a website put up somewhere with a link to listen. Even if it's just a small site with a contact link and a link to listen that's a start. So, one of you guys, get together with Kerri on msn or another place and get a website put up somewhere that links to the station. Since money isn't a factor right now, why not just do things with a few friends and call it what it is? seems like until you can get some more cash this is the very best you can do. oh and hey, the movie Sunday idea is cool, gotta give you that. That's not something a lot of people are doing, at least not that I've seen. I'm only gonna give one more piece of advice and then I'm done with this topic. Another way to promote yourself is to get an e-mail discussion list going, and before you say that costs money, g-mail accounts are free and don't require an invite anymore, and the other services like Yahoo and hotmail have a few hoops to jump through as far as creating accounts go, but they are free, and the price is right for that at the time. So if you create the group and get people to sign up who are interested in the goings-on at your station, that's another place to promote yourself. I'm certainly not knocking the station, it's theway you say things, and the way you're going about it. Nick and I are trying to be helpful and give advice, yet you and all you other guys wanting to start stations think you know it all, and you don't. Hell, I don't even know it all and I've been at this for 7 years. If all this is is a station for broadcasting and having fun with afew friends every so often then that's certainly ok, but to say that you have a new station and not even give the address? no wonder the other atempts failed. I'm seriously not saying all this to be a jerk, even though it sounds like that. I'm simply doing this to *try* to offer some sound advice. Wether you guys starting stations choose to listen is up to you.

Post 37 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Sunday, 08-Apr-2007 18:01:01

toonhead, thanks. i will try and paste the address in to my winamp player.

i think a small site is a very good idea, maybe include a skedule, so that people no when to listen. also, with the mailing list thing, i can help you with that, as i used to run a joke list (well, still do, but it's now a forum). it's a good idea, even if you just send out weekly anouncements about what's new at the station

Post 38 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Sunday, 08-Apr-2007 18:03:40

oh, and as toonhead said, the moovie idea is fantastic, i look forward to some descriptive moovies

Post 39 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Sunday, 08-Apr-2007 22:53:11

good this is going on a possidive note like it I thought non of you liked it and wanted to get at me for it. Well yes Movie Sunday has been the thing since Jammin Hits Radio but then it was hoasted by Dan who was the G M at the time but due to not trusting him he is not the G M of this he only has a show from 8 to 10 on Fridays. I hope you all see now what I want to do with it. I also want to have a old radio drama show started as well in the future. By the way Wirb Radio is going to do a special 12 hour stream tomorrow think Richard can do it? We will see. Who knows what will happen. And yes I do want some one who knows alot of H T M L to help me with a website I think a basic site whould be fine and I do no that lists are free so I will defenitally get on to that just got to no where to go to cerate one. Well glad this is going some where and talk to you guys soon.
Remember mvrn.kicks-ass.net:8000 in your media player. Its off on Sunday nights but rezomes at 7 Munday morning just to give my box a brake heh!

MVRN Radio! mvrn.kicks-ass.net:8000

Post 42 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Wednesday, 11-Apr-2007 15:19:03

Maybe if you would actually learn how to spell people would take you seriously? Ever thought of that? and I knew this stupid Werb radio was gonna be gone, and by next week, MVRN will be gone too. Just watch.

Post 43 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Wednesday, 11-Apr-2007 15:43:43

Well toon head if that is the way you want to put it go ahead I don't really care just one less listener

Post 44 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Wednesday, 11-Apr-2007 19:14:42

wow, for not caring, you sure knew how to respond. Sorry, I just don't take anything you say seriously for the following reasons.
*not being able to string a sentence together without some kind of typo and not caring or even trying to correct your mistakes? That doesn't look very good, a guy running a station who can't even spell simple words.
*You start all these projects and then 3 weeks later, you give them up. I haven't seen anything from you that's lasted more than a month, and can be taken seriously.

*I understand you have limited resources, but when you come up with all these ideas for shows and radio stations, you don't see them through, and when a listener tunes into your station expecting one thing and getting another thing, or possibly nothing, you just lost yourself a listener. If you're gonna make promises and do all this work to promote your station, stick with it. I'm doing this to make you understand that you have to be held accountable for the things you write here. No I don't take you seriously. So if you would actually learn how to write a message that doesn't contain 200 typos, put on a radio station that actually sticks around for more than 3 weeks and gets a lot of buzz from a whole bunch of people and not just you, then maybe myself and others will begin to take you seriously. Your radio station isn't cool just because *you* say it is. I would honestly like to see you proove me wrong. I honestly would. I'm sorry to be a hard-ass, but if you're gonna promote yourself here you gotta deliver the goods, and so far, you aren't. I'll keep my ears out though, and we shall see.

Post 45 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Wednesday, 11-Apr-2007 22:32:29

well since you want the station down well it is because I have decided to think of joining one of the big networks. And well getting a show on a network what one is good? And I don't want H K C or T B R N

Post 46 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Thursday, 12-Apr-2007 1:29:58

Well, there's always www.Kool360.com, and 107ThePhoenix.com. Maybe you could get a shift on either of those stations. oh and theres another new one called 2020 the blink. So give those a try. That's actually a really good idea, going to a network is probably the best idea for you! Seriously it is a good one.

Post 47 by Austin (the magic fan!) on Thursday, 12-Apr-2007 4:14:52

kerry. dude. bring mvrn back. it was great. i had it on for 24 7.
and what network? hope it's the blade.

Post 48 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Thursday, 12-Apr-2007 14:18:10

sind up to kool 360 but I have never heard 2020 the blink and Austin if you want me to get my network back I will half to think about it I am going to see who wants it back and who does not and decide from there because no listeners no station.

Post 49 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Thursday, 12-Apr-2007 17:37:02

Hi.
I was reading this topick since it was created because i am also interested in internet radio.
Nobody ever said that they didn't want your station. They just tried to give you feedback. Feedback is always good and it's the only way somebody can improove. I think it is wrong for somebody to not accept feedback. And being polite also would be good. The answer if you don't like it give cash wasn't a very good answer.
If i had an internet radio and i had feedback from experienced djs such as Nick and DJtunehead sorry for the spelling i would value this feedback a lot.
I have to say that i didn't listen to either your station or any of the others which are run by zoners. I am just giving feedback based on what i am reading here.
I wish you good luck and if you start your stations again learn to listen to comments even if they are bad. But i think these people wanted to help you anyway.
Nikos

Post 50 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Friday, 13-Apr-2007 1:24:46

Yes, Nikos, we were giving, what I hope was valuable feedback. I like seing people succeed, and with the path Kerri123 was taking, it wasn't the right way to do things. If you're going to promote yourself, you better be ready for criticism, both good or bad. if you can't take criticism, constructive or otherwise, then thicker skin is what's needed. Either way, we'll see how Kerri does at Kool 360. I think with some help of other broadcasters he could succeed. but you have to have an open mind.

Post 51 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Friday, 13-Apr-2007 10:27:03

I have the station back for now but I would like more interaction and more listeners and I am looking for shows! So if you feal you have the tallent write to me at mistervera23@hotmail.com with your requested time slot and type of show you are going to do. I kind of need all different types of shows.

Post 52 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Thursday, 26-Apr-2007 21:35:07

M V R N radio has a f t p! P Q or P MM me if you want a acount! Also we are looking for D J's! If you want to join M V R N and help it grow let me no changes are going to be under way because now I have a job! Things get done with money so in a few weeks I hope to put a site up and things like that. Also m v r n has a pay pal acount so if you want to donate let me no.

Post 53 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Saturday, 28-Apr-2007 14:08:20

People will only donate if you give them a good product, something they'll keep coming back for. Don't just expect people to send you cash just cause you ask them to. So get something good on the air, and promote the pay pal account and if people like what you're doing, they'll throw you a few bucks.

Post 54 by Nick6489 (11 years a Zoner) on Monday, 30-Apr-2007 20:54:51

And let's be totally honest, I'm not positive people will donate with that. A lot of us have this conservative attitude of "It's my money, and you're not takin' it from me." Bare that in mind.

A slight correction is needed.
MVRN is not the new home for the Eric Tyler show but is simply symal casting it with full permission from the hot 979 staff.
You can check out Eric's show on MVRN as hot979
On his show you get a wide variety of today's hit music as well as the hits from yesterday on his flashback hour.
You also get news of the weird, trivia, completely useless facts, and you can call him or most of our other on air dj's toll free in the US at 888-652-4440 anytime they're on to make a request.
Check Eric out from 9 PM to midnight central time everyday.
You can also check us out durring the day for other programming.

Hurby, in Kerry's defence, your promotion of Hot979 on this topic in my view is considered an atempt to draw attention away from MVRN. In escence, you are cutting Kerry off mid-speech to promote HOt979. Correction is understandable, but you also talked about Hot979's other programming, and believe me, that's not a good way to promote your station.

well since you want to do that I will thake that show off the station because its all ready on hot 979 there for there is no point how ever I am looking for shows. But most people don't listen any ways. Now I ask what needs to be enproved for people to listen? Besides a site and well things that cost a little.

Help: It's something that you desperately need right now. Help: It's nothing to be ashamed of. Using that as a jab, however, is. You've not changed a bit in the two years I've known of your existance. I say give up the ghost, and I mean it. You are no good at the business side of internet radio. You don't get it, simple as that. I repeat this, you have no business sense. And when you're not willing to put forth any sort of capital to improve yourself and your station, IE, The Blade,, you need to be shrude, inteligent, and patient. You are none of those things. HKC Radio stemmed from that...I could've, and was about ready to, multiple times in fact, cut and run like you so often do, only to emerge as something else with a different name and pretty much the same damn thing.

To have a station that has a prayer of going anywhere in the world, you need a website. For a website, you need to spend at least a little bit of money, or...do what you seem to be forbidding, and have help. HKC Radio's first ingredient was that.

The rest of it is sense you gain when you actually mature in the business, work with other people on other stations, keep a watchful eye, commit things to memory, etc etc. This process, iif you start from scratch with only two or three shows, can be long. How long did it take HKC Radio to become the way it is? Three and a half years.

There is the timeframe you should be thinking about. This is an example of the dedication you need. If you continue to cut projects off after a month or two, you will have zero success. Each project will be more of a failure than the last. Give up the ghost.

What success? he hasn't ever had any as far as I can tell! MVRN is dead because it was never really alive. Just a 12 year old kid in his room playing radio station with 2 mics and a 15 dollar tape deck is what these projects are like. But someday, who knows when, this fact will finally sink in.

Dear nick and Toon Head I have stoped doing stations and have deleted my music so are you guys happy?
The thing you really needed to do was listen and support. Like I sed few stations I no rely on support to keep going like
www.tbrn.net
I am sorry if I waisted your time bitching but I like doing it as a hobby heh what else can I do when I am board out of my mind? I am doing a show on Fridays now on b s r 88.1 F M in my area
bsrlive.com
7 to 8 I am doing old radio dramas. and also doing production work for 1320 A M as well. Non of them are giving me money because they don't have it. So I am looking for sponsers would one of you like to sponser my show? Or are you going to sit there and complain and not sponser at all just like my stations.
But that is okay because I will have the local people listening to my show and actually enjoying it.

As i said before nobody here said close your stations. They tried to give you advice. Their point was that you shouldn't give up your stations as soon as you had the first problem. I am sure Nick had loads of problems but didn't give up but he kept trying. I might be wrong but you are very impatient. You want to succeed in one day but unfortunately that doesn't happen.
And you should be polite when asking for money. You should say things like if you like what you hear please consider donating not if you don't donate the station won't be good. This is not a nice way of asking people to give money.
And i don't have a station myself or i don't work for one so what i say is for advice and not because of competition as you think the others do.
So in the future learn to listen to what people have to say.
